Ministries

Resurrection is a church of active participation and we encourage everyone to join in ministry. Listed below you will find some of the activities that make Resurrection a fun place to worship and serve the Lord.

Our Choir

With his strong liturgical background Lou Romolo, our organist and choir director, is able to put everything in perspective and come up with a meaningful worship experience for our congregation time after time. We are now rehearsing every week for our Christmas Cantata which the choir is preparing for a worship service right before Christmas. For those of you are interested in joining us this year, you are truly welcomed. Lou is putting his whole being into this year's program and we're absolutely sure everyone will love the music. New voices are always welcome and we encourage you to join us on Thursday nights at 7:30 PM to experience it for yourself. We have several brand new choir robes still waiting to be filled! Join with us in glorifying God with our music.

Heather Atagan has joined our Music Staff as our early Sunday Worship Service Pianist and Assistant Music Director working with Lou Romolo and the choir. Heather will also be developing a bell choir at Resurrection in the near future.

Special music during lent:- In an effort to become more familiar with the elements of the Mass, (the Mass is the source of our Lutheran Liturgy) we begin, during Lent, our liturgical journey with the Sanctus and its interpretation by various composers. This Lenten season, our journey took a look at the AgnusDei (Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.) The composers: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Joseph Haydn, CharlesGounod, Hector Berlioz, Ralph Vaughn Williams, Samuel Barber and John Rutter represent a time span of over 250 years. We set aside Wednesday evenings, beginning February 6th, 2008 (Ash Wednesday), for a special faith journey that inspired as well as informed.

The Women’s Group

The Women's group meets on the first Monday of every month, September through June, in the conference room at the church. They discuss topics of interest to the group, do service projects and go on trips; occasionally they even have guest speakers. One such visit prompted the organization of two service projects for Lutheran Social Ministries. All women are invited to join in the Women's Group; the meeting begins at 10:00 AM and ends with a bag lunch; each member takes a turn providing coffee and dessert.

Adult Bible Study

The Sunday morning Adult Bible Study is a diversified hour of Bible study, fellowship and music with hymn stories, composer backgrounds and artist histories. From September through June the class meets every Sunday in the conference room, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Music is played beginning at 9:15, until class starts at 9:30. Last year the group studied the book of Revelation; this year the group is studying 1st Corinthians. Find out what happens during the Bible Study. New members are always welcome and are encouraged to attend. You need not wait until a topic is completed to join us - come any time!

Family Ministry

Resurrection Lutheran Church is more than just a group of worshippers, we are a family. As such, we promote family activities often during the year. You are welcome to join us in activities as we join our many families into the one family that is Resurrection.

Our Youth Ministry Team

Resurrection's Youth Ministry Team is a lively and active one, comprising students from 6th through 12th grades. Our Team is always on the move with outreach projects and taking the ministry of Jesus Christ outside the walls of our church. If you have a child who is looking for a place that's new and exciting to belong, contact us for our meeting times. New members are always welcome, and parent participation is encouraged. For more detail on the Youth Ministry's current plans, visit the Youth Ministry page.

Vacation Bible School

July 14 - 18, 2008, our 4th annual Vacation Bible School program will be offered from 9:00am - Noon. Last year more than 78 children enjoyed a week of crafts, music, games, and learning about our Lord. They were attended to by a volunteer staff of over 20 teachers and assistants. We anticipate another new and exciting program in 2008. Watch our calendar of events for the posting of any additional information. There is no fee but registration is required. All are welcome. Please complete the registration form on the Registration VBS page. See the Pictures from VBS page for some pictures from last year's VBS. For more information call 609-586-3355.
